Student Policies and Procedures
Student Check-Out Process
- If a student needs to check out of school early, and or for any messages on Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri. please do so before 2:00pm.
- On Thursday, please do so before 1:00 pm.
*Parents and Guardians,
Please remember that we need you to check in with the attendance clerk in the front office when you would like to “check-out” your student. You will need to present a government issued picture ID to remove your child during school hours. According to RCW 28A.605.010 and Pasco School Board Policy 3440, the school must be able to verify the person checking out the student is authorized to do so. If parents do not “check-out” their student properly, students will not be excused for absence. We can no longer allow parents to call the office and ask us to send a student out to their car.
Bus Notes/Transportation
-
Parents per transportation guidelines
- Changes can be made to student routes. Please contact the main office at 509-546-6000. If the address qualifies for bussing, our office submits the request in writing to transportation. Once the route is added for the student (please wait 3-5 business days), the office will contact the parents once the change has been made.
- A written/typed note must be done by the parent/guardian if you would like your student to ride a different route for a day (ex. ride to a friend's house). The note must contain the student name, bus/route information, date, a brief description of why, and your name and phone number. Please sign and date the note. The student must bring that note to the office no later than 11am. The office will verify, stamp, and date the note. The office makes a copy for our records and gives the original note to the student. The student then hands the original note to the bus driver.
Food and Drink Policy
Food and Drink: To aid in providing a safe, secure, and pleasant learning environment for all our students, energy drinks, such as Monster, Red Bull, or other highly caffeinated beverages will not be allowed in the building. We ask parents to help us with this expectation by limiting the purchase of these types of drinks for their children on the way to school in the morning.
- Students are not permitted to order from meal delivery services such as, but not limited to, Uber Eats and Door Dash during school hours.
- Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them to school.
Fragrances/Perfume/Body Spray
Please help us keep this environment safe, healthy and comfortable for everyone. The chemicals used in scented products can make some people sick, especially those with fragrance sensitivities, asthma, allergies and other medical conditions.
PLEASE DO NOT use perfume, cologne, body spray or other fragrances in the workplace. DO NOT use air freshers, wax burners, essential oil diffusers or similar fragrance emitting products in the workplace.
Tardy Policy
- It is essential that students arrive on time and ready to learn.
- Parent/guardian will be contacted and students with 5 or more tardies in one week will be assigned detention.
- Parent/guardian will be contacted and students who are more than 10 minutes late for class two or more times per week will be assigned detention.
Pick-Up & Drop-off Pointers
Morning Drop Off
- When dropping off in the front loop, please pull forward to the end of the loop before letting student out of the car.
- The back loop drop off is open at 7:30, after buses have finished dropping off. The back loop is ideal for families dropping off, who need to exit east on Burns. It is not permitted to drop students off in the back loop when busses are arriving.
Afternoon Pick Up
-
There is no back loop available for pickup due to buses loading students. Do not pickup students in the back staff parking lot.
- In order to keep the flow of traffic moving through the loop, please exit right on Burns. Waiting to exit left on Burns, slows the flow of the pick up loop.
- Please do not pick up students on Burns Road when waiting to enter the school pick up loop.
*Afternoon pick up is the most challenging time and we appreciate your patience. Although it seems slow, the majority of traffic is cleared out in about 12 minutes from the time school is released. Thank you for being courteous to other drivers around you.
